Govt plans to introduce SC/ST quota bill in Rajya Sabha today

The bill providing reservations in promotions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the government jobs is expected to be introduced in the parliament today, 5 September 2012.

The government is planning to introduce the bill in the Rajya Sabha, today, after the Union Cabinet cleared the bill that will provide quota based promotions for SCs and STs in all the Central and State government jobs, Tuesday, 4 September 2012.

However, the ruling opposition-Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to continue its protest in the Parliament, on the coal scam, making the passage of the bill difficult for the government.
