The 2012 Presidential election will see a direct contest between Congress led UPA's nominee Pranab Mukherjee and BJP led NDA's nominee PA Sangma.

India will elect its 13th President today, 19 July 2012 for which the polls have began in the National and State capitals. As many as 776 MPs and 4120 MLAs are eligible to vote in today's Presidential election.

The 2012 Presidential election will see a direct contest between Congress led United Progressive Alliance's nominee Pranab Mukherjee and Bhartiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance's nominee PA Sangma.

The counting of votes for today's election will be held on Sunday, 22 July 2012 and the new President will succeed Pratibha Patil, India's first female President, whose five year term ends on 25 July 2012.
