The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is expected to finalize its vice-presidential nominee in a meeting today, 16 July 2012.

The BJP, which decided to announce its vice-presidential candidate after consulting with its allies, may very likely announce the former Union Minister Jaswant Singh as its nominee for the 2012 Vice-Presidential election.

The ruling Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has already announced the name of current Vice-President Amid Ansari as their candidate for the Vice-Presidential election that is scheduled to be held on 7 August 2012.
