During the Budget Session- 2012, overall 21 Bills were passed in the Parliament, which included one Ordinance replacing Bill
The Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a press conference on the conclusion of the Budget Session- 2012 in New Delhi on 23 May 2012 said that the government is very keen on passing of the Lokpal Bill the earliest possible. The Budget Session of the Parliament which commenced on 12 March 2012 has been adjourned sine die on 22 May 2012.
During the Budget Session, 21 Government Bills were introduced in Lok Sabha and 5 Bills were introduced in the Rajya Sabha. In all, 21 Bills were passed by Lok Sabha as well as the Rajya Sabha, which included one Ordinance replacing Bill. Some of the important Bills passed were the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2012; the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2012; the Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2012; the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganization) and Other Related Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2012; the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Second Amendment) Bill, 2012; the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Bill, 2012; the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development Bill, 2012; the Copyright (Amendment) Bill, 2012; the Anand Marriage (Amendment) Bill, 2012; and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Bill, 2012.
