The day-long meeting of Chief Ministers on the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) was held in New Delhi on 5 May 2012. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Chief ministers in their speeches during the meeting highlighted various concerns on the issue and offered different suggestions to strengthen the counter-terrorism apparatus in the country.
In his concluding remarks, Union Home Minister-P Chidambaram highlighted the areas, which require more examination, and assured Chief Ministers that the government would re-examine the issue of locating the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) within the Intelligence Bureau (IB), which has been one of the main objections raised by several Chief Ministers.
