Delhi Civic Polls: Counting of votes begin

The counting of votes for the Delhi Civic Polls has began today, 17 April 2012 morning amid tight security and the results are expected to come in by 3pm.

There is a close race between the two national parties-Bhartiya Janata Party and the Congress, who are the main contenders in the elections to the three newly formed municipal corporations in Delhi. Today's results will decide the fate of over 2400 candidates.

Polling for all the 272 wards spread in three municipal corporations in New Delhi -East, South and North-were held on Sunday, 15 April 2012, which witnessed an historic 55% voters turnout. There are 104 wards each in South and North Corporations and 64 in the East.
