The apex court, yesterday, 4 April 2012, began hearing the plea for investigating the alleged role of Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G spectrum license allocation scam
The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) Department to file a fresh status report on the 2G-spectrum scam in three weeks.
The apex court, which began hearing the plea for investigating the alleged role of Home Minister P Chidambaram in the second generation spectrum license allocation scam yesterday, 4 April 2012 also asked the three departments to file a status report and update it on their probe in the scam within three weeks.
The court is hearing pleas by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) and Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy seeking a CBI probe into Chidambaram's role in fixing the 2G spectrum price along with then communication minister A Raja in 2008.
