CAG Clarifies on Coal Block Issue
23-Mar-2012, 09:40

Comptroller and Auditor General of India through a letter to the Prime Minister have expressed deep anguish over leakage of an audit report on coal block allocation.

Clarifying on a media report that claimed that the Government has lost Rs 10.7 lakh crore by not auctioning coal blocks, the Comptroller in the letter said that the leaked details are under discussion at a very preliminary stage and do not even constitute our pre-final draft and hence are exceedingly misleading. He further added that the leak of the initial draft causes great embarrassment as the Audit Report is still under preparation.

The Prime Minister of India-Manmohan Singh received the letter from the Comptroller and Auditor General yesterday, 23 March 2012.
