The price hike proposed by Dinesh Trivedi is the first in the last eight years and left many of his party members unhappy.
West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamta Banerjee has opposed the train fares hike announced in the Railway Budget 2012-13 that was presented by her party member Dinesh Trivedi in the parliament yesterday, 14 March 2012. She also demanded to roll back the price hike.
Dinesh Trivedi in his maiden Railway Budget hiked the passenger fares by 5 to 15% across the board. The price hike proposed by Dinesh is the first in the last eight years and left many of his party members unhappy. Mamta has also reportedly asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Trivedi and replace him with Mukul Roy, who is currently minister of state for shipping.
