UP elections: 60% voter turnout in sixth phase

Uttar Pradesh recorded 60% voter turnout in the sixth phase of polling that was held yesterday, 28 February 2012.

The voter turnout in the sixth phase of polling for 68 assembly seats spread across 13 districts in Western Uttar Pradesh was much higher than the 47% voter turnout that was recorded in the corresponding phase in the 2007 assembly election.

The final phase of polling for Uttar Pradesh' s 60 assembly constituencies will be held on 3 March 2012, while the counting of votes will be done on 6 March 2012.
