Delhi Government raises OBC quota to 27% for higher education

The Delhi Government has raised the reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in higher education to 27% from the 21% presently. With the hike in reservation for OBCs, the total reservation in higher educational institutions for SCs, STs and OBCs will go up to 49.5%. The SCs have 15% reservation while the STs have 7.5%.

The decision to increase the OBC quota was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit. The reservation will come into effect after a notification by the Government.
