The Election Commission (EC) of India on Thursday, 16 February has released the schedule for the by-elections to fill vacancies for one Lok Sabha seat, 11 assembly seats and one legislative council seat.
Polling for the one Udupi Chkmagalur Lok Sabha seat in the state of Karnataka and the 11 other parliamentary seats comprising 7 seats in Andra Pradesh, one each in Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Odisha will be held on Sunday, 18 March 2012. The notification for the same will be issued on 22 February 2012.
While the by-election for the one Legislative Council seat in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that fell vacant due to the death of Yashpal Khajuria, an elected member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council will be held on Thursday, 22 March 2012 between 10.00 am to 2 pm, according to a press release of EC.
