Campaigning for first phase of polls ended in UP

The election campaign for the first phase of assembly polls for Uttar Pradesh ended on Monday, 6 February 2012.

Top leaders of major political parties such as Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Bhartiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party campaigned for Uttar Pradesh's first phase of assembly elections that is to be held on 8 February 2012.

In the first of UP's 7 phased assembly elections, 55 constituencies across 10 districts will go on to polling. In this phase more than 1.70 lakh electorates would seal the fate of 862 candidates.
