The apex court has also asked the CBI to submit its status report on its probe into the 2G license allocation scam case to the CVC

CVC to assist SC to oversee further probe into the 2G scam case
03-Feb-2012, 10:04

The Supreme Court (SC) after canceling the 122 Second Generation (2G) spectrum licenses awarded by the former Telecom minister A Raja has asked the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) to assist the apex court in effectively monitoring further investigation in the 2G case.

The apex court has also asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit its status report on its probe into the 2G license allocation scam case to the CVC. The CVC after examining the report has been directed to give its report to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover.

The Supreme Court passed this order in response to a plea submitted by the Janata Party President-Subramanian Swamy seeking to set up a Special investigation Team (SIT) for day to day monitoring of the CBI's probe into the scam. The apex court however refused to set up a SIT to oversee the probe.
