The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (AR & PG) is organizing the Conference of Chief Secretaries on February 3-4, 2012 in New Delhi.. The two-day Conference will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. It will be attended by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, V Narayanasamy, Cabinet Secretary Principal Secretary to PM and Secretary AR&PG, Secretaries of the Ministries/Departments, Chief Secretaries of the States/UTs and senior officers of the departments.
The two-day conference will deliberate on Nurturing Innovation and Transparent and Accountable Governance with regard to Effective Public Service Delivery and Infrastructure - Forcing the Pace. The high level meet would also take up the follow-up decisions taken at the Second Annual Chief Secretaries' Conference with reference to the Flagship Programmes of the Government. There will also be sessions on Skill Development and Crisis Management.
The Conference has institutionalized the process of interaction with States/UTs. It serves as a standing forum for exchange of views between the Centre and the States. It also provides an occasion for discussion on global developments that have a bearing on the country as a whole and the broad contours of national policies in select areas of relevance. This conference also helps in ensuring an integrated and holistic approach towards the development of the country.
