Single phased polling has commenced for Punjab's 117 constituencies and Uttarakhand's 70 assembly constituencies
Amidst tight security, casting of votes has begun for the 2012 assembly elections in Punjab and Uttarakhand today, 30 January 2012.
Single day polling has commenced in 117 assembly constituencies across 19841 poling station in Punjab. An electorate of 1.77 crore are eligible to cast their vote in today's election to select their representatives from a total of 1078 candidates in Punjab.
While on the other hand, casting of votes started across 9806 polling stations in Uttarakhand 's 70 assembly constituencies. In the single phased polling, over 63 lakh electorates will decide the fate of 788 candidates.
