The Election Commission has decided to hold a Biennial Election to the Council of States from Sikkim for the purpose of filling the vacancy of Ongden Tshering Lepcha
The Biennial Election to the Council of States from the State of Sikkim will be held on 30 January 2012, the Election Commission announced on 4 January 2012.
The term of office of one member of the Council of States elected from the State of Sikkim is going to expire on 23 February 2012 due to the retirement of Ongden Tshering Lepcha.
The Election Commission has decided to hold a Biennial Election to the Council of States from Sikkim for the purpose of filling the said vacancy. The aforesaid Biennial Election will be held in accordance with the following programme: -
1. Issue of Notification: 13th January, 2012 (Friday)
2. Last date for making nominations: 20th January, 2012 (Friday)
3. Scrutiny of nominations: 21st January, 2012 (Saturday)4. Last date for withdrawal of candidatures: 23rd January, 2012 (Monday)
5. Date of poll: 30th January, 2012 (Monday)
6. Hours of poll: 9.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M
7. Counting of Votes: 30th January, 2012 (Monday) at 5.00 PM
8. Date before which election shall be completed: 3rd February, 2012 (Friday)
