In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index slumped 157.10 points or 0.70% to 22,363.35.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, climbed 6.10%.
Vodafone Idea Ltd, Yes Bank Ltd and Suzlon Energy Ltd were the top-traded individual stock futures contracts in the F&O segment of the NSE.
The October 2026 F&O contracts will expire on 27 October 2026.
