Market Commentary - Mid-Session
The key equity barometers traded with slight losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 24129-23998. Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty shares declined.
At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, inched down 475.64 points or 0.62% to 76,788.87. The Nifty 50 index moved lower by 173.55 points or 0.72% to 24,002.10.
The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.88% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index retreated 1.04%.
The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1645 shares gained and 3018 shares declined. A total of 322 shares were unchanged.
Nifty Media index tumbled 3.70%. The index has posted modest gains of 2.84% in last one month and lost 0.21% over last one year. Zee Entertainmen, shedding 9.45%, led the losers followed by Netwrk.18 Media, slipping 3.84% and Saregama India, down 2.57%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.
Nifty Metal index slipped 2.22%. The index has risen 9.07% in last one month and surged 46.85% over last one year. Hindustan Zinc, easing 3.99%, led the losers followed by Adani Enterp., losing 3.30% and Vedanta, edging lower 3.20%, respectively. All 15 index constituents are reporting losses today.
Nifty Realty index fell 1.78%. The index has drifted lower by 1.37% in last one month and posted modest gains of 2.99% over last one year. Lodha Developers, easing 3.33%, led the losers followed by Godrej Propert., losing 2.46% and Anant Raj, slipping 1.97%, respectively. All 10 index constituents are reporting losses today.
All 14 sectoral indices on NSE are trading in the red today. Nifty Private Bank index has added 1.67% in last one month and has advanced 6.38% over last year. Nifty Media index has posted strong gains of 2.84% in last one month and is marginally lower by 0.21% over last one year.
From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, Zee Entertainmen AND Ola Electric are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 894.88 lakh shares, 2880.24 lakh shares and 1015.99 lakh shares respectively.
Asian markets posted modest losses on Monday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly lower by 0.05%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is modestly lower by 0.38%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is down 0.40%.
NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 181.90 points today.
