KEC’s sustainability report reveals emissions, water usage, and workforce diversity challenges

KEC, a construction and engineering company, reported significant environmental and social metrics in its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report Core assurance report, dated July 29, 2026, covering the period ending March 2026. The report, independently assured by BSI, revealed total Scope 1 GHG emissions of 76,712 tCO2e and Scope 2 emissions of 27,512 tCO2e, alongside substantial water consumption of 1,450,785 KL. While 6% of energy consumption came from renewable sources, and 21% of waste was recycled, the company faces opportunities to improve in these areas. Furthermore, women comprise only 5.36% of KEC’s workforce, and two POSH complaints were upheld, highlighting a need for enhanced diversity and inclusion initiatives. The report also indicated that wages paid in smaller towns demonstrate a commitment to regional development, and 11% of domestic purchases were sourced from micro, small, and medium enterprises.
