Nifty January futures trade at steep premium

The Nifty January 2024 futures closed at 21,861.05, a premium of 129.65 points compared with the Nifty's closing 21,731.40 in the cash market.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 lost 47.30 points or 0.22% to 21,731.40.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, declined 4.28% to 14.50.

Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Vodafone Idea were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

The January 2024 F&O contracts will expire on 25 January 2024.
